The Blast program is an extracurricular program offered by BBYSL that started in 2015. Chosen Blast teams compete in the Chicagoland Sunday League and additional tournaments that vary by team choice.

The main goal of the Blast program is to allow girls the opportunity to play extra softball at a more competitive level. The girls that play on the Blast teams will be exposed to possibly fall, winter and spring practice time and a higher level of competition during games.  The Blast players pay 100% of the cost to participate. We give each player the opportunity to raise the money by participating in fundraisers throughout the year or through sponsorships that they can seek out. Generally fees will be $475-$1000 per player.

 Another goal is to provide another option for players who might typically look to play at the full-time travel level. We see this as a way to keep our In-House league stronger by keeping our players in the neighborhood. Also it provides our parents with a cost efficient alternative to full time travel softball which can cost approximately $1,800 - $5,000 a season.

IN 2015 season, we started with a 10U team and a 12U team. Each season, we will assess the interest and decide how many teams the Blast will hold Try-outs for field. Although talent level will be a major factor in selecting players, availability and commitment are just as important.

The Sunday League runs from April through June. The Sunday League sponsors a Memorial Day Tournament which we will generally play in from year to year. Additionally, each team will assess their own situation on any additional tournament opportunities that may come up.

Although each Blast team is separate, they all operate as one program under the jurisdiction of BBYSL. Blast games MUST NOT conflict with In-House games. Players are expected to give full priority to their In-House teams practice and games during the season.
