What is Positive Coaching Alliance?

  Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a nonprofit company based at Stanford University.  PCA's mission is to transform youth sports to provide all young athletes with a positive, character-building experience.  Last year BBYSL began using PCA principles by distributing to our coaches and asking them to share "Honoring The Game" information with their players and parents.  Honoring The Game goes to the "ROOTS" of positive play.

In 2008 BBYSL decided to partner with PCA this season by investing over $2,200 in Leadership and Coaching Workshops because PCA is a valuable resource that supports our mission of being an outstanding educational-recreational organization.  In January every board member and our Volunteer Coordinator attended a PCA Leasdership Workshop call "Leading Your Organization."  This interactive workshop provided attendees with practical tools to implement an organizational culture conducive to positive coaching both short- and long-term.  A strong ORGANIZATIONAL Culture results in a positive TEAM culture.  Our goals this year are:
  • To create optimum learning environments for our athletes, where giving 100% at every practice and game, and their ability to perform in competition improves.
  • To help coaches achieve greater success by providing state-of-the-art training and tools. (Double-Goal Coach Workshops)
  • To get everyone involved - leaders, coaches, parents, and athletes on the same page about what it means to Honor The Game.
